Medicine is evolving, and whole-person care is here.
Across the continuum of care, we are seeing greater attention to nutrition, lifestyle, mind-body approaches and the many factors that influence health. Patients are asking for these options, and practitioners need the training to evaluate the evidence and determine when and how to use them.
For more than 30 years, the University of Arizona Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine has been at the forefront of this work, training clinicians who have gone on to influence care at leading universities and health systems nationwide.
Today, we’re bringing that opportunity closer to home to ensure the University of Arizona continues to lead the conversation on patient-centered, personalized, whole-person care and healing-oriented medicine. Across campuses, colleges, schools, clinics, and specialties, the vision is for every prescribing practitioner to be trained in integrative medicine.
Patients, students and residents are asking about lifestyle, supplements, psychedelics, and mind-body interventions. Be ready to answer with evidence.
Integrative medicine sees each patient as a whole person — mind, body and spirit — and a partner in their care, supported by a team focused on what gives their life meaning and purpose.
From NIH, the VA, and HHS to ACGME, whole health is shaping how medicine, nutrition, and public health are taught and practiced.
The Fellowship in Integrative Medicine changes the way you approach your own well-being, which extends to your colleagues and trainees you lead.

More than 5,000 clinicians from across the country have completed University of Arizona integrative medicine programs, gaining expertise they have brought back to colleges of medicine, residency programs, health systems and clinical practices nationwide.
Today, as modern medicine points to prevention and whole-person care, we have an opportunity to bring more of that expertise into our own clinics, classrooms and health systems.
Your patients, students, and residents are asking about nutrition, supplements, mind-body medicine and other approaches that are empowering and whole-person. The Fellowship in Integrative Medicine gives you the evidence and expertise to answer those questions with confidence and determine what belongs in their care.
Students and residents are curious about whole-person care, but they may have limited opportunities to learn it. Bring that knowledge into your teaching, mentorship and conversations with colleagues, helping the next generation of clinicians understand what integrative medicine can offer.
You may want to introduce a new clinical service, contribute to research, develop a course or simply practice medicine differently. Integrative Medicine training can help you pursue those interests and connect with colleagues who are doing similar work.
The future of medicine is not choosing between conventional and integrative care — it is knowing when and how to use the best evidence to care for the whole person.
Integrative medicine and whole-person care belong in every specialty.
We encourage eligible clinicians, faculty and staff from across the University of Arizona to consider the Fellowship in Integrative Medicine, including those working within:

The Fellowship is a two-year, part-time program with a flexible design for practicing or teaching clinicians. Most of the program is completed asynchronously online, with opportunities to connect directly with faculty and leaders in whole-person care through clinical mentorship, active discussion groups, and three experiential CME weeks in Tucson.
Approximately 1,000 hours of total program learning
Study at your own pace through 13 curriculum modules featuring clinical lectures, research, case studies and practical applications of integrative medicine.
The online format allows you to continue working while you complete the program when it is most convenient for you. For most, this looks like an average of 10 hours per week.
Three in-person CME retreats
When was the last time you were able to let go and learn immersively alongside a community of likeminded clinicians?
During three experiential weeks in Tucson, you’ll work with faculty and fellow clinicians through hands-on workshops, clinical demonstrations and shared learning experiences that bring the curriculum to life.
Case-based learning with experienced integrative physicians
Throughout the Fellowship, you’ll have opportunities to discuss clinical cases with experienced integrative medicine practitioners and colleagues from other specialties.
