Daphne Miller, MD


Daphne Miller MD is a family physician and author. For over a decade, her clinical work and writing have focused on the balance and interplay between nature, traditional healing and western medical interventions. She currently provides primary care for patients (ages 0 to 100+) at Wholefamilymd, an integrative, neighborhood-based, family practice in San Francisco. In addition, she teaches nutrition and integrative medicine at the University of California San Francisco and lectures nationally and internationally on topics related to food and health.

Her recent book, The Jungle Effect (HarperCollins 2008) is a nutrition, cookbook, travelogue, which chronicles her voyages to areas around the world that are still relatively free of modern chronic diseases. Dr. Miller also contributes a column to the health section of the Washington Post. Interviews and profiles featuring Dr. Miller have appeared in a wide variety of print and internet publications including Vogue, Health Magazine, O Magazine, Gourmet, The New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Miami Herald, Rome's La Repubblica, Civileats.com, and Dr. Weil.com. She has appeared on Oprah radio, the Dr. Oz TV show, Michael Krasny's Forum and has lectured in such venues as the Commonwealth Club and the International Idea Festival.

Dr. Miller is a graduate of Brown University and Harvard Medical School. She completed her family medicine residency and a primary care research fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. From 2004-2006 she was a Bravewell Fellow with the Integrative Medicine Program at the University of Arizona. Her architect husband Ross Levy and her two teens are always happy to help test recipes or accompany her on an adventure.
